I’m not sure why I am still getting emails asking me to review this property. I have sent you numerous messages with my concerns but have no real answer...... But as you keep pestering me..... here goes. Please publish this on your website so any potential customers will read before booking.
Firstly, booking with your company was ridiculously difficult. It was not until after you had taken my money and I had sent 4 emails to you, 2 to the host and a phone call asking why the host hadn’t got in touch that someone told me that your app does not work for communication and I needed to use a desktop instead of my phone or iPad. Surely most people using a website like homeaway will be travelling and use a mobile device???
I did finally manage to contact the host re the check in process and was told that I would have to basically sneak into the condo behind someone else who had a pass so I could get the key which was kept in a mailbox behind the security desk, no offer to meet us when we arrived. There was a massive sign next to the front door saying that ‘this place is for residents only, not for travellers or backpackers...... it is not a hotel and day or week rentals are illegal and will be sent to the police as trespassers and will be prosecuted under maximum law.’
Really welcoming if you are white, speaking English, carrying a huge rucksack and sticking out like a sore thumb.
To be fair, I couldn’t really fault the apartment, it is small but well furnished and the pool area is nice. However, the host is clearly renting her apartment out illegally and if that makes her tenants illegal, that’s not ok. We didn’t move as the money had already been taken from my credit card and we couldn’t afford to stay anywhere else but we both felt very uncomfortable throughout our stay.
I have emailed my concerns to homeaway and received wishy washy replies....... obviously not really bothered.
Certainly won’t be using homeaway again for rentals or to let out my own property and cannot recommend Anyanas place.
