Nice host, dirty place.
Our host was nice enough. He picked us up from the bus station and told us a little bit about all the places we could go on the way to the place. Which was cool. He even provided some tea and tooth brushes. When we booked the place it said that it had accommodations for four guests even if we were just going to have three people stay there. There would be no extra charge if four people stayed. While in Japan we ran into a friend and invited him to stay with us. Our host was going to charge us extra for having the friend stay with us until he realized what it said on the website so he let our friend stay but did not provide a futon for him. Even though we paid for it. So the four adults shared three futons. The place was pretty dirty with stains on the walls of the bathroom and dirty tissues left by previous guests. The futons did not looked like they were washed and it just felt gross staying there. We last minute booked all our places for our trip which included Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto. This was by far the most expensive place and the worst place we stayed at. We stay at amazing places for $15 - $17 a night per person and this one ended up being $30 a night per person. Honestly if you can find something else please do.

First of all, we could not ( not "did not" ) offer you one more Futon bedding.
As you know,"The Golden Week" is the series of national holidays.
Besides this year's holidays is the longest in the Japanese history ( from 2nd to 3rd of May is the best time of the Golden Week ).
If you give us previous notice "I booked 3 persons, actually 4 persons " when you book, we offered one more room.
Unfortunately, we had no vacancy the day of the check-in.
I could not hardly hear you when you call me from the JR Kyoto station by surrounding noise.
I tried to contact you several times
( sent messages at 17:20 17:57 18:03 19:17 )
but you did not ( actually could not ) reply.
"We are afraid you, some accident has happened ?"
I sent last message before you arrive at 19:17
Because, it takes only 13 minutes by subway from Kyoto station to Kitaoji station.
You answered at 19:42 "Sorry my phone lost its charge"
Then I rushed to the station to pick up and I found the shocking fact.
You showed a generous attitude about Futon when you check in.
We really apologize to you for you felt absence of cleanliness.
Off course we changed or washed bedclothes and towels until check in.
Your room is Japanese style with a traditional Japanese landscape garden, but little bit old-fashioned.
We hoped to you take a fancy.
We Japanese spread Futon bedclothes on the floor direct.
But we put of our shoes at the entrance.
That is the difference of culture.
It is excellent If you found cheaper place during the highest season.
We are praying for your happiness even if you hated our room and you recommend other accommodations.
