Worth the Journey
After walking the hills of Obidos, Coimbra and Porto we were thrilled to arrive at Joao and Orlanda's house in Ancede. The pictures fall short in showing off the beauty and charm and warmth of the house. Joao and Orlanda were there to greet us and introduce us to their house. They left us with beautifully arranged treats on the dining room table.
The kitchen was one of the best supplied kitchens. The rooms are large and the linens great. The wood floors and the woodwork aroung the house are beautiful. Step outside on the deck and the view of the Douro River and valley make you want to stay forever. We were only there for 2 night. It would be easy to stay for longer. Driving on some of the roads in this area is not for the feint of heart, but i don't know if you even need to leave the house.

Beautiful house in fantastic location
This is a stylish house where much thought and care has gone into making it comfortable and welcoming. The hosts Orlando and Joao were generous and friendly. I highly recommend.

Wow the pictures could not capture the views from the decks they were amazing day and night .... the best morning coffee place and a awesome way to start our day !
The house had everything we needed but we didn’t use much... if we were there longer I’m sure we could have made use of more. The place was clean and had lots of towels and bedding. Make sure to leave time to go down the 222 it is an amazing drive Do not miss it !!! It is spectacular. The couple was great and they were easy to get intouch with via text or call. I would recommend this property anytime and would stay again if we were lucky enough to come back!

Gem In the Douro
This is a "gem" in the Douro Valley. Peaceful, serene, family orientated house, beautiful and outstanding location. When in the Douro Valley, it is like a vacation on top of a vacation. We enjoyed our stay. The house was great ~ clean, opened, large, great view, fabulous outside deck to sit and enjoy the church bells that ring over the valley while enjoying the outstanding view. Our hosts were more than we could ask for. Accommodating in the utmost respect. Blessed to have found this place and meet our hosts!
